Eight Years in the Navy Came First
I served eight years in the United States Navy. I earned my undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University while on active duty, then a Master's Degree in Public Administration, and I worked for the Department of Defense as a Business Financial Manager before I ever wrote a policy.
The Navy is where I picked up the habits I still run on. Show up on time. Read the whole document. Say the hard thing early. Those same habits decide whether your coverage holds up on the day your family files a claim on it.
"Show up. Do the work. Protect the people who are counting on me."
